Frequently Asked Questions

Who should I ask to be my mentor for Phone Coaching?

Mentors are the people who will be recording messages of support for you, so you might choose someone who you look up to, and/or are inspired by. You should trust the mentors you choose as well. They can be a parent, grandparent, friend, sibling, child, co-worker, etc.

At the very least, you can add yourself as a mentor to record your own messages, as well as ask your Sixth Dimension Coach (the person who introduced you to Sixth Dimension and who you signed up under). He or she would be more than excited to be one of your phone mentors.

Do I only use Phone Coaching for my Debut Goal?

Phone Coach is not limited to your Debut Goal. You can use the app for any goal you want, long term or short term.

Why haven’t I gotten any calls yet?

Double check the times that you set Phone Coach to call, and double check that you selected ‘Call’ instead of ‘Text Message’. This can be done by logging into the app and clicking on “Schedule Your Calls” in the top left.

It’s also possible you were called but did not recognize the number. The phone coach number is (801) 448-0506. Once you recieve your first call, save the number into your contacts as something like

Why haven’t I received any messages from the mentors I chose?

It can be easy for people to miss an email, or get busy and forget about it.

  • One way to increase the chance of their involvement is to simply talk to them before or after you send the email, either in a phone call or in person, explaining what you are doing and why.
  • Another way is to personalize your email invitation text. It is totally up to you whether or not to use the default wording or change it, but personalizing the email can make it more compelling. At the bottom of this page is a sample invitation template that you can copy or use as inspiration.

The odds of getting your friends/family to respond to the email and leave you a voice message go up greatly when you do these.

How do I change my goal, tasks, mentors, phone call times, or email message?

If you’d like to update or change any of the above, log into your Phone Coach account. At the top left there is a menu of options. Click the corresponding option, and fill out the fields. Phone Coach will then update according to your changes.

For example, if you wanted to update your goal, you would click ‘Your Goals & Tasks’ in the top left. Then, simply change what you’d like inside the goal and actions boxes, and click save. Phone Coach will then ask about your new goal in each call, and we recommend updating your mentors on your new goal as well.

Here is a Sixth Dimension invitation template you may use or revise as you prefer (add spacing as appropriate):

I am asking for your help because I value our friendship and admire you; and I know that sharing this goal with you makes me more committed to it and will make it more likely that I will achieve it.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
A simple phone message from you is all I need. I hope that is not asking too much!  If you’ll leave a short message of encouragement in my voicemail box, your message will be delivered when I need a little push to stay focused. Leaving the message is easy. Instructions are at the end of this email. You can change the messages as often as you’d like.
